Avatar 3D Wings Its Way Home
Kiwi Avatar fans will have to wait longer than most of the world to see it in 3D on Blu-ray. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today it will go on sale here on October 24, a week after its release in the US and Europe. Hitherto, it’s been available only to buyers of Panasonic 3D TVs. The consumer release will include 2D and 3D editions of the top-grossing movie of all time but it’s not clear if there will be extras. Chances are these will be included on a 3D extended edition of the movie, as happened with the 2D Blu-ray. The RRP will be $55, which seems steep for a movie that’s already been issued twice on Blu-ray in the three years since its theatrical run, especially when the North American RRP is $US40.
